Magnetic Construction Toy

US Patent:
6626727, Sep 30, 2003
Filed:
Feb 6, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/071767
Inventors:
Steven H. Balanchi - Glendale CA,
International Classification:
A63H 3304
US Classification:
446 85, 446 92, 446124, 273157 R
Abstract:
The invention relates to a geometric construction toy for building cubic and square profiles and consists of a multiplicity of like dimensioned magnetizable bodies and interconnecting members. The interconnecting members have an axis of elongation and magnetic ends which magnetize and couple with a respective magnetizable body along a mutually perpendicular axis of the magnetizable body. After coupling, the axis of elongation is axially coincident with one of the mutually perpendicular axis of the magnetizable body and at an angle of 90° to each of the other axes. The magnetic ends of the interconnecting members are tapered for insertion into cylindrical recesses extending axially into the outer surface of the magnetizable body to permit stable magnetic coupling along a mutually perpendicular axis of the magnetizable body.

Adjustable Length Connection Arm For A Magnetic Construction Toy

View page
US Patent:
2005022, Oct 13, 2005
Filed:
Apr 12, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/822335
Inventors:
Steven Balanchi - Altadena CA,
International Classification:
A63H033/04
US Classification:
446092000
Abstract:
The invention relates to an adjustable length connection arm for use in building toy geometrical structures. In the preferred embodiment, the adjustable length connection arm consists of a first member slidably and telescopically mounted to a second member and selectively positionable with respect to the second member. The ends of the connection arm each contain a captively carried magnet for magnetically coupling with a magnetizable body and the axial distance between the connection arm ends is selectively adjustable by selectively positioning a latch carried by the first member into captive engagement with any one of a multiplicity of axially spaced openings in the second member. Each of the multiplicity of openings is so dimensioned and proportioned to permit the latch to be releaseably and captively held in the opening. In another embodiment, the first member has external threads that engage the internal threads of the second member to permit the axial distance between the ends of the connection arm to be selectively determined by relative axial translation of the first member with respect to the second member.

Game For Magnetically Associating Symbols To Convey Intelligence

View page
US Patent:
2006008, Apr 27, 2006
Filed:
Oct 21, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/970810
Inventors:
Steven Balanchi - Altadena CA,
International Classification:
A63F 3/00
US Classification:
273239000
Abstract:
This invention relates to a game for selective association of indicia to convey intelligence where the indicia appear on the surfaces a cube shaped, magnetizable body. Each surface of the cube contains a recess of like dimension and so dimensioned and proportioned to captively hold an insert member carrying a magnet. A train of magnetizable bodies are magnetically coupled together, both horizontally and vertically, to convey intelligence such as words constructed from the indicia. A game board having a magnetic surface permits a magnetizable body to couple with the board. Support members have first end that supports a horizontal train that may extend from any magnetizable body forming a vertical train and a second end that bears against the game board.
